Women have always been an integral part of the music industry. And with so many successful and famous female singers today, it might be hard to believe that most of them do not receive recognition for their works.

In a 2019 study, researchers discovered that only a few women held key roles in the music industry. After collecting data from Billboard charts and the Grammy Awards, they found that only 21.7% of artists were women. Even fewer than that, only 12.3% were female songwriters and only 2.1% were female producers.

Despite how hard it is for women to break through into the industry, many of them persevered. In fact, most of them have now become some of the most famous female singers ever.
