It Is the Only State Named After a President – George Washington

George Washington was born in 1732 and was one of the founding fathers of the USA. He was elected unanimously in 1788, 1789 and 1792, and is so far the only President to have had an entire state named after him. He wasn’t actually born in the state which would later bear his name, though; he was born and raised in Colonial Virginia and his family owned a plantation.
